We appreciate you may have many questions regarding Esalen’s temporary closure. We have compiled these frequently asked questions to support you. These questions will be updated as more information becomes available. If your question is not answered below, please contact email@example.com
Q. Why is Esalen not offering its Residential Study Program?
While we will not be offering our Residential Study Program for the rest of the year, it is our hope and intention to offer a residential learning experience in 2021. This decision was not taken lightly, but we it felt was necessary in light of social distancing needs to prevent further spread of COVID-19.
Q. Is there a reported case of COVID-19 at Esalen?
No, there is no current case of COVID-19 at Esalen. We have, and will continue, to follow directives at the local, state and federal level to ensure our community’s health and wellbeing.
Q. How long will Esalen be closed?
Esalen has extended our closure through July 4, 2020 and we hope to reopen on Sunday, July 5, 2020. This is based on current information and could change based on external factors.
Q. If Esalen is reopening public workshops, why not offer the Residential Study Program as well?
The social distancing requirements needed to prevent the spread of COVID-19 means many organizations — including Esalen — will need to reimagine how we operate in very fundamental ways. Our primary priority is for the safety of our guests, faculty and staff and we are at work now to create new ways that we may re-gather when Esalen reopens. However, to host longer term students within our Residential Study Program requires additional support that we do not have at this time.
Q. Can I get a refund if my Residential Study month was cancelled?
Yes, anyone who was impacted by Esalen’s temporary closure should have been contacted regarding a refund. If you have not received communications from Esalen, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Q. What if I applied to a study month in 2020. Will you keep my application on file and could I be considered for 2021?
Given that each Residential Study month has a specific study theme, we suggest that you resubmit your application after reviewing our new offerings in 2021. We will be providing an update online when that information becomes available.
Q. Is there a wait list for Residential Study Programs in 2021?
Not at this time.
